


Tagkawayan and Agdangan, Quezon underwent evaluation and validation for the Regional Search for Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan (MMK).
LOS BAÑOS, Laguna, August 12 — The towns of Tagkawayan and Agdangan in Quezon Province were
evaluated and validated for their participation in the Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan (MMK) Regional
Search for Outstanding Coastal Community in CY 2022. It was held last August 8-11, 2022.
Said field validation was conducted by representatives from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 4A, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Philippine Coast Guard and Department of Interior and Local Government.
In selecting the Outstanding Coastal Community, the representative evaluators considered the following
criteria: implementation of mangrove reforestation, anti-illegal fishing campaign, closed fishing season, establishment of marine protected areas, and solid waste management.
MMK is a major program of the Department of Agriculture through BFAR, which encourages coastal communities in the country to protect their oceans and fisheries. (atcdelacruz, w/translation by faqdayrit and mdalonte)
