Four (4) beneficiaries from Batangas and Quezon provinces were awarded by the Bureau of Fisheries
and Aquatic Resources Region 4A (BFAR4A) with one unit each of double grow-bed aquaponics set.
The distribution was conducted last August 18, 2022 at the Office of Freshwater Demonstration
Fish Farm (FDFF), Bay, Laguna.

FDFF Center Chief Josephine T. Dela Vega led the awarding of the aquaponics sets to the following
beneficiaries: Tanauan, Batangas’ Bañadero Elementary School; Guis-Guis San Roque Sariaya, Quezon’s
Association of Fishermen; Calaca, Batangas’ National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC/AFSC); and Padre
Garcia, Batangas’ Municipal Agriculture Office.

The said activity aimed to provide alternative income to beneficiaries using aquaponics, or combined
aquaculture and hydroponics, a method where both fish and vegetable are grown together.(atcdelacruz)
