Fisherfolk from Quezon Province and Cavite whose boats were damaged by Typhoon Karding received
livelihood assistance totaling eight million pesos (Php8 M) from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic
Resources Region 4A (BFAR 4A).
A total of 904 fisherfolk – – 898 from 11 municipalities of Quezon Province and six (6) from three (3) towns
of Cavite – – will be receiving livelihood assistance consisting of Marine plywood, copper nails, Marine
Epoxy, and materials for the repair of fiberglass boats (resin, hardener, stranded mat, and rolling mat).
The first wave of awarding was held last October 24-26 at the Sub-Provincial Fisheries Office of Quezon for
the fisherfolk beneficiaries from Polilio and Burdeous, the most devastated areas in Quezon. One
hundred forty (140) pieces Marine plywood and 1,616 pieces of copper nails and marine epoxy were
distributed. The aforementioned activity is expected to be completed by mid-November.
Through this assistance, BFAR 4A expects the fisherfolk to re-establish and revitalize their fishing activity
with their repaired and fabricated fishing boats. (atcdelacruz)
