TALISAY, Batangas — Through its Philippine Fisheries and Coastal Resiliency (FishCoRe) Project, the Department of Agriculture- Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) conducted an orientation for the FishCoRe Grant Proposal Review Committee (GPRC) from March 23 to 27, 2026 in Talisay, Batangas. The activity aimed to align and standardize the review and evaluation process for grant proposals under the FishCoRe Matching Grants Program (FMGP), while promoting consistency, transparency, and efficiency among implementers. Participants from FMA Coordinating Units (FCUs) in Regions I, III, IV-A, IV-B, CAR, and NCR, along with the Regional Project Implementation Unit (RPIU) and National Project Management Office (NPMO), took part in discussions and practical exercises to clarify roles, refine evaluation procedures, and address common challenges in proposal review. The orientation also provided an opportunity to share experiences and enhance coordination and decision-making across units, as part of the FishCoRe Matching Grants Program Window 2 (Enterprise) in FMA 6 under MARLIN Sub-Component 2.2 (Enterprise Development). BFAR said the initiative is expected to further improve its grant review system and ensure that supported enterprise projects respond effectively to the needs of fisherfolk and coastal communities.
