February 27, 2026 – The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 4A actively participated in the motorcade organized by the Protected Area Management Office–Taal Volcano Protected Landscape (PAMO-TVPL) on February 27, 2026, in Talisay.

The activity was conducted to remind everyone about the Tawilis Closed Season, which will begin from March to April, in accordance with PAMB Resolution No. 49 (Series of 2018) and PAMB Resolution No. 63 (Series of 2019).

The motorcade aims to inform fisherfolk and communities about the importance of complying with the closed season. It serves as a reminder that following the law is essential for the future livelihood of our fisherfolk. During the two-month period, catching tawilis is prohibited to allow the species time to reproduce.

In this way, we can help protect Sardinella tawilis and ensure that fisherfolk in Taal Lake will continue to have a sustainable catch in the months and years to come. (mrcamilon)
