In support the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources – CALABARZON banner program, Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan (MMK), the Fisheries Resource Management Section (FRMS) conducted habitat assessment and mapping of Fish Sanctuaries in Calauag, Quezon, last August 5-7, 2020.

The 3-day activities focused on the monitoring and mapping of the Balagbag and Guinoyasan Reef and validation to the proposed Fish Sanctuary, as requested by LGU-Calauag.

Due to the absence of buoy markers, fishing activities such as handline and gill net fishing were conducted by the fisherfolk inside the Fish Sanctuary. Hence, the mapping to determine the core area of the Fish Sanctuary where buoy markers will be installed.

The activity was led by the OIC of FRMS, Mr. Edmundo M. Amican III, assisted by Ms. Sarah Dexie D. Lacambra, Technical staff and Mr. Ruben B. Buemia, Jr. MCS staff.
