A 3-day training on Statistical Analysis for Scientific Paper was conducted by the National Stock Assessment Program (NSAP) in CALABARZON Region last August 5-7,2020 at the Regional Fisheries Training Center at BFAR-Regional Office Brgy. Bambang Los Baños, Laguna. The training aims to capacitate Data Analysts on Inferential Statistics, and best practices in data visualization, key concepts and basic data analysis using MS Excel, determination of necessary statistical tools for research, and visual designs of tables and figures for a scientific paper. The NSAP Project Leader and RFTFCD Chief Dr. Maribeth H. Ramos spearheaded the activity and gave an Opening Welcome Remarks followed by a message from Regional Director Sammy A. Malvas.

In each session, the participants were given a task to present charts using the data on FMA 12 and FMA 1. They were grouped into two during the workshop for brainstorming and information exchange. The Resource Speaker Mr. Josel Afunggol, a BS Statistics graduate from UP Los Baños, discussed the highlights on the result of NSAP’s two scientific papers entitled; “Reproductive Biology of Bali Sardines, Sardinella lemuru (Bleeker, 1853), and Indian Mackerel, Rastrelliger kanagurta (Cuvier, 1816) in Tayabas Bay, Quezon, Philippines” and “Occurrence of Anisakis and other Endoparasitic Nematodes of Commercially Important Fish Species at Tayabas Bay”.
