As the lead region for Fisheries Management Area (FMA) 12, the National Stock Assessment Program (NSAP) Analysts commenced the 1st Virtual Convergence Meeting to consolidate and validate the data from Regions 4B and 6. The NSAP Project Leader Dr. Maribeth H. Ramos spearheaded the conduct of data consolidation/coaching in coordination with the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) with Project Director Edwina D. Garchitorena, Dr. Jose A. Ingles, and Jimely O. Flores who are mentoring/coaching the said activity to come up with a holistic and collaborative analysis for FMA 12.
The Assistant Project Leader of NSAP Region 4A Catherine N. Amican, discussed the outline of the results of the consolidated data from the three regions. She presented the catch distribution of the Top 20 species from 2015 to 2018 and the landing centers that the sampling area covered. Also, a tasking of the top species among the three regions was done during the virtual meeting. The coaching/mentoring sessions will be conducted every Tuesdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon until December 8, 2020.
Likewise, FMA 1 (Lamon Bay), FMA 7 (Ragay Gulf), and FMA 6 (Nasugbu Bay part of Manila Bay) started the same activity since May 2020 and had been an on-going activity every Wednesdays and Thursdays.
